Gastroenterological problems are rampant in Chitrakoot and its adjoining areas. Majority of these patients come with abdominal pain, disturbed bowel habits and disturbed menstrual cycle in females.

Looking at the magnitude of the problem the administrators of JKC decided to establish a diagnostic department in 2007 and a gastroscope was procured in March 2007. The Gastroscope picks up abdominal disorders till the upper portion of small intestine. 184 upper GI endoscopies have been performed successfully till date by the department. During the checkups cases of stomach and esophagus cancer have also been detected at an early stage.
