The department was inaugurated as Matritva Sadan (Home for Mothers) with financial support from Surekha Charitable Trust. The prime objective of the department is to provide safe motherhood and child birth especially to rural women. It also encourages couples and families to adopt family planning measures. It is supported by two labour rooms, a well equipped Operation Theatre, a special Neonatal ward, private wards and a General Ward. There are specialist doctors available 24 hours for any emergency.
